SERVICES: YOGA
Yoga is a combination of physical and mental exercises that aim to promote flexibility, stamina and strength, and reduce stress.
Yoga is a 5,000-year-old practice that creates self-awareness and inner peace. Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditations makes you healthier in body, mind, and spirit.
Research shows that yoga helps manage or control anxiety, arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood pressure, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic fatigue, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, headaches, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, stress and other conditions and diseases.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are the classes appropriate for a beginner?
Yes, the classes are appropriate for anyone because they are self paced. The instructor will guide you to take the yoga posture to your level. Once the posture is introduced, she will offer additional movements to add more challenge if desired. You make the choice to take it further. Success is also promoted with the use of props or modifications to the posture.
I've never done yoga; will I stand out in the class?
No, not at all! It is a non-competitive environment and everyone is working at his or her own comfort level. You will be too busy focusing on yourself to worry about what others are doing. The only expectations from the instructor are that you honor your body, respect your limitations, and work at your personal comfort level.
What do I need to bring?
Wear clothing that allows for movement. A yoga mat and/or blanket are recommended, but they are not required. Also, it is recommended not to eat a large meal 1-2 hours prior to class.
What type of yoga is it?
The classes are based on the YogaFit philosophy. They are fitness based with a warm-up, workout, and cool-down format. We begin class with five minutes of meditation and breathing exercises to get ourselves centered, and progress into a variety of traditional yoga postures that will build heat in the body - warming up the muscles, then work and build strength, and then we go to deeper flexibility postures. We end class with 5-10 minutes of relaxation. No Chanting! Also, the instructor uses American names for the poses.
When/Where are the classes?
There is a monthly schedule available for dates of classes and times. The classes are held in the physical therapy gym at Schubbe Resch Chiropractic at 2200 S. Kensington Dr, Appleton. Please use the back door entrance.
